Repairs & Installation
Electric: Installation of light fixtures, ceiling fans, smoke detectors, outlets, switches/dimmers.
Plumbing: Repairing pipes and replacing or repairing plumbing old or leaky fixtures. For instance, water flow can be slow when you have corrosion or just a clocked faucet filter.
Mechanical: Installing, repairing, or replacing air filters, air delivery, and return grills, and preassembling exhaust fans and more.

Remember, safety is paramount. If a project seems too complex or potentially hazardous, it's wise to seek professional assistance.
Basic Tool Kit:
Invest in a basic tool kit that includes a hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, and a tape measure.
Learn How to Shut Off Utilities:
Familiarize yourself with the location of the main water shut-off valve, gas valve, and circuit breaker. Knowing how to turn these off in emergencies is crucial.
Fixing Leaks:
Fix minor plumbing leaks with tools like pipe wrenches and plumbing tape. Fixing leaks promptly can prevent water damage. Don’t let it go too long before correcting the problem.
Gutter Maintenance:
Clean gutters regularly to prevent clogs and potential water damage. Ensure downspouts direct water away from the foundation.
Weather Stripping:
Install weather stripping around windows and doors to improve energy efficiency and reduce drafts.
Unclogging Drains:
Keep a plunger on hand for minor drain clogs. For tougher clogs, use a drain snake or an eco-friendly drain cleaner.
Changing Air Filters:
Regularly change or clean air filters in heating and cooling systems. This improves efficiency and air quality.
Patch Small Holes:
Patch small holes in walls with spackle or joint compound. This is useful for covering up nail holes or minor dents. If you want to match the paint you have on the wall and you have a patch, did you know that you can collect a chip from the paint before you patch it and take it to the paint store and they can match it?
Painting:
Ask how to properly prep surfaces and apply paint to brighten up and refresh your home, and your outlook on life! For outdoor jobs, make sure that your surface is dry for at least 4 days after rain or dew before painting, or you can get bubbles.
Safety Checks:
Conduct them regularly!
Such as testing smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide detectors, and checking for loose handrails or steps.

Understand when a project is beyond your skill level. For major repairs or installations, it's often best to hire a professional.
