Outdoor Living

We know how common it is in the San Francisco/Bay Area to have limited outdoor space to share with family and friends.

Sometimes it just takes a fresh coat or extending the deck with steps! There are many ways to create a cozy outdoor space.

“I've lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and worked for reputable single-family contractor companies for more than 20 years, but people always call on me for handyman projects, so I finally decided to go out on my own! I know that people need help getting things just the way they need them to be, and sometimes even after they just completed a home renovation with a contractor! So whether it’s your home, a rental you own, or any other type of investment, I like to think I know a thing or two about helping you make it right.”

— Gueorgui, your friendly neighborhood handyman

“As a senior homeowner, I was worried about finding a reliable and trustworthy handyman – my friends had so many bad experiences. Gueorgui has restored my faith. I know if I call him, he will respond right away, and do everything he can to get the problem solved for me. I stand behind my recommendation of his services – 5 stars from me!” ~ Patricia K., San Francisco

Home Tips

Remember, safety is paramount. If a project seems too complex or potentially hazardous, it's wise to seek professional assistance.

Basic Tool Kit:

Invest in a basic tool kit that includes a hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, and a tape measure.

Learn How to Shut Off Utilities:

Familiarize yourself with the location of the main water shut-off valve, gas valve, and circuit breaker. Knowing how to turn these off in emergencies is crucial.

Fixing Leaks:

Fix minor plumbing leaks with tools like pipe wrenches and plumbing tape. Fixing leaks promptly can prevent water damage. Don’t let it go too long before correcting the problem.

Gutter Maintenance:

Clean gutters regularly to prevent clogs and potential water damage. Ensure downspouts direct water away from the foundation.

Weather Stripping:

Install weather stripping around windows and doors to improve energy efficiency and reduce drafts.

Unclogging Drains:

Keep a plunger on hand for minor drain clogs. For tougher clogs, use a drain snake or an eco-friendly drain cleaner.

Changing Air Filters:

Regularly change or clean air filters in heating and cooling systems. This improves efficiency and air quality.

Patch Small Holes:

Patch small holes in walls with spackle or joint compound. This is useful for covering up nail holes or minor dents. If you want to match the paint you have on the wall and you have a patch, did you know that you can collect a chip from the paint before you patch it and take it to the paint store and they can match it?

Painting:

Ask how to properly prep surfaces and apply paint to brighten up and refresh your home, and your outlook on life! For outdoor jobs, make sure that your surface is dry for at least 4 days after rain or dew before painting, or you can get bubbles.

Safety Checks:

Conduct them regularly!

Such as testing smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide detectors, and checking for loose handrails or steps.

Know Your Limits:

Understand when a project is beyond your skill level. For major repairs or installations, it's often best to hire a professional.
